Hanoi eyes Australian tourists

Travel By CysloAn advertising programme to promote tourism in Hanoi was launched in Australia on August 24.

The programme is being organised by the Hanoi Department of Tourism, Vietnam Tourism Association and Vietnam Airlines. The programme will be carried out through August 29.

Yesterday, Aug 28, organisers of the programme are scheduled to have a meeting with the Australian Education and Training Department, Tourism Management Agency of Victoria State, Melbourne Tourism Information Centre to discuss solutions to promote human resources training in the field of tourism in Hanoi as well as how to better advertise the city as a popular destination for Australian travelers. The group of organisers will also survey some well-known tourist sites in the three biggest cities in Australia – Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne – to create new tours for Vietnamese travelers who wish to visit Australia.

In the first seven months of this year, 37,000 Australian tourists came to Hanoi, an increase of 60% in comparison with the same period last year. Currently, direct flights from Sydney, Melbourne to HCM City are being offered by Vietnam Airlines and Qantas Airlines. Cheap air service by Jetstar is also scheduled take off in November 2006 with three flights a week.
