Chanchu- Storm in Vietnam: The first tropical storm of the year – Chanchu – has changed its path and is now traveling north and east, bringing rough seas and strong winds off central Vietnam, meteorologists said Monday.

At 4pm Friday, the eye of the storm was 700km off coastal Da Nang city with strong winds of over 133kmph. On Sunday, the storm was over the East Sea moving westward after touching down in the Philippines.

It is forecast that in the next 24 hours, the storm is to continue on its northeastern path at a speed of 12-17kmph.

Vietnam’s southern region will see more rains Tuesday while rough seas and strong winds are raging near Vietnam’s Spratly Archipelago, reported the weather forecast station.
