| Traditional Hanoi trading centres to be developed | Two streets of Hanoi's ancient quarter - Hang Gai and Lan Ong - will be restricted for trade in only silk and souvenirs, and traditional medicinal herbs, respectively, according to Mr Lam Quoc Hung, Vice Chairman of the Hoan Kiem District People's Committee.
Under the scheme, shops and products along the two streets will have their own trademarks and logos, Hung said, adding that the trading households will attend further training courses on business, commercial culture and retail styles. Residents in Lan Ong Street will have to meet food safety and hygiene requirements.
The scheme, which is being devised by Hoan Kiem District and the Hanoi National Economics University, will be carried out within 2006.
